So here's the place to introduce yourselves, what brought you to TVD? Fave character(s)? Looking forward to The Originals this fall?
I'm Ciara, I'm lucky enough to be on staff for a convention organiser here in the UK and worked at the Vampire Diaries convention last year. I'd never seen an episode before that weekend but a rather close encounter with Steven R McQueen (ply me with internet cookies and maybe I'll tell you more) resulted in me going home and mainlining 2 seasons in about a month. Been hooked ever since.
Fave characters are Jeremy, Klaus and Alaric.
Looking forward to The Originals? HELL YES!

I have been meaning to pick up the books since I got home and see just what the relationship is, there are some similarities but from my understanding they have taken the characters and setting and used them as a jump off point for the show.
Have you read the books?
Edit: just got the first two books for 99p on my kindle so I'll have a read and let you know.

The first few but then it got really weird and confusing. I was talking to someone else who watches it and she seemed to think the same and that the stuff that really put me off the books wasn't in the TV show. It is on my list of things to start watching soon though

Well I'm a handful of pages in to the first book and there are already pretty big differences to the show. Elena is a brunette, and not as much of an apparent princess. Her friends all look different too.
