Ian McNeice announced today that he will be back as Winston Churchill in an upcoming Doctor Who episode.

The 62-year-old actor was speaking at a Doctor Who event at The Ritz Cinema & Theatre in Lincoln.

McNeice has played Churchill in three previous episodes: The Victory of the Daleks, The Pandorica Opens and The Wedding of River Song.

It is not currently known if he was referring to the 50th anniversary special, this year's Christmas special or an episode in Series 8. This year's Christmas special seems most likely as it begins filming next month.

Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat has hinted that the Eleventh Doctor will find his regeneration in the Christmas special a "frightening" experience.
